Josep Font was born in Santa Perpetua de Moguda, Barcelona. He studied design and pattern design in the international institute FELI. His first success in the fashion field came when he won the national prize of Air France competition celebrated in Paris in 1984. The winning design was exposed in the Paris Apparel Museum.
In 1989, Josep Font presents for the first time his work during the Pasarela Cibeles in Madrid. During this year he also has the opportunity to present his designs in the Lounge Contemporary of Milan and in the Piscine Deligny of Paris, where his first success in France is achieved: to win the prize of National Fil D'Argent.
In 1991 Gabriela S.L. is created, a company that is responsible for the production and distribution of the brand Josep Font. During this year he opens his own shop in Barcelona and in Bilbao. The shops of Josep Font are characterised by their unique decoration.
His international success continues throughout the decade. In 1993 he is invited to Igedo's Fair in Dusseldorf, thus making his way into the German market. In July, 1997 he presents his collection in Tokyo. In 2000 he opens his first shop in Madrid. In September 2002, Josep Font initiates his relation with the Galeries Lafayette of Paris. However, his great worldwide bet comes with the opening of his own shop in Paris, in the Rue Sourdière, next to Rue Saint-Honoré.

After a long path in the Spanish pasarelas, Josep Font presented for the first time his collection during the Paris Fashion Week. For his début in the capital of fashion, the designer chose the emblematic and mythical cabaret Moulin Rouge, which opened for the first time its doors to a fashion show. His second show in Paris took place in the Louvre, and his third one in the Hotel Westin. However, his big dream came true on the 24th January 2008, where Josep Font presented his first Haute Couture collection. The event took place in Space BMC, one of the warehouses Louvre has.
