With his eponymous prêt a porter collection, Edward Achour demonstrates his mastery of drapery, seaming, and fabrication with confident elegance and sculptured femininity. Evoking the drama of traditional French Haute Couture, each piece channels grace and delicacy through focused design and peerless workmanship.
Born in the south of France, Edward developed an intense interest in design at a young age. By fourteen, he had a significant portfolio and traveled to Paris where he sold his drawings to Yves Saint Laurent and Guy Laroche. Beginning in 1986, Edward spent five years with Burberry. In 1991, he joined Escada, under the creative direction of Margarita Ley, where he expanded his knowledge of design fundamentals and gained invaluable experience.
In 1994, he opened his personal collection’s first freestanding boutique in Place de la Madeleine, Paris. Madame Torrente, proprietress of the Haute Couture House bearing her name, admired several “well-executed, gorgeous jackets” from his collection and invited him to design the House of Torrente prêt a porter line. Subsequently, he was appointed creative director at Carven, and revitalized the ailing line.
Edward Achour is designed and manufactured entirely in France. Edward partners with Michelle Moissac, Paris, an Haute Couture Atelier located in the center of Paris that also produces pieces for France’s most renowned fashion houses. At the moment he is working with the prestigious company Weill, where he has launched a collection under his name.
